10:43 am - the last 2 weeks......
the last 2 weeks have been kind of crazy both at work and outside of work. The biggest thing that has happened was the bjfrie is no longer. Congrats to Barby and Chris on getting marrried. The wedding was really nice and it was fun hanging at the hotel with them and everyone else before heading to the BBC. A good time was had by all. We also got to dog-sit for them while they were on their cruise, which was fun and made me want a dog even more, damnit

AT WORK:

Regis and Kelly came to New Orleans to film a week of episodes. They stayed at our hotel as well as a bunch of their on-air guests and their entire production crew. It was a lot of fun having them around, but it was also really busy at the hotel. It was fun watching Kelly Ripa and her kids walk through the lobby all the time. In fact, her daughter lola even gave me a hat from mother's so I could work their with them.

John  Stamos was one of the on-air guests that stayed at the hotel, and then after eveyone else left, he decided to extend his stay and stay in new orleans a few extra days. He was an interesting guy, to say the least.

The highlight was that I was the VIP Coordinator when Jaslene Gonzalez (america's next top model) came into the hotel. Which meant that I got to escort her to her room. So we had a little conversation in the lobby and then we went upstairs to her room where I showed her around. It was really cool, and she was really nice, and just as ghetto as she looked on TV.

After everyone left and things quieted down, our VIP Coordinator took 4 days of vacation, so I got to fill in for a whole 4 days, it was fun, but also kind of stressfull doing that and working the front desk at the same time, thank God for the meds or else I probably would not have been as calm as I was.

OUTSIDE OF WORK:

Last monday after work, I met Julie at Rendezvous for A beer, like that was going to happen. Well, we ended up sitting in the bar 2 hours after the bar closed just chatting with the bartender, watching Star Trek, yeah. At least we got some free beer and shots, even if we did leave the bar at 5:30.

After that, the rest of the week was kind of taken easy, but then on Saturday, I was randomly given the day off because they kept the same schedule as the previous week and I was off for Barby's wedding. So I went over to the lyd's grandparents house  because her parents were in town and we went to greek fest and then had a wonderful dinner of crawfish then grilled shrimp, it was great.

Monday, the lyd and I went to Camellia Grill and only had to wait like 15/20 mins for a seat. It was excellent, I was so happy to have a cheeseburger and chocolate freeze again and the best part is that the grill now takes Credit Cards!!

And the past 3 days, the earliest I have been home is 2 AM, I need to stop going out/spending so much money, oh well.

Have a great week!

12:44 am - RIP: Josh Hancock
the Cardinals gathered Sunday afternoon at Busch Stadium to discuss the death of relief pitcher Josh Hancock in an automobile accident and to mourn his passing.

“We just got together to discuss . . . there were comments and memories shared that were really meaningful to everybody in the room,” manager Tony La Russa said.

General manager Walt Jocketty said: “Josh had a lot of friends in the clubhouse. You talk about it being a family, it IS a family, believe us.”

“It’s an extended family,” La Russa said. “You have your family at home, you have your family in the clubhouse.”

Hancock, though, was single. “Josh, in this town, his family was his team,” La Russa said.

“Personally and professionally, he was a lot of fun and a terrific teammate.”

.

And that makes 2 Cardinals in the past 5 years.......

04:13 pm
I have been uber productive today, even without a car. I woke up this morning, a little hungover from dinner and dos jefes last night, and I went to Mossy to drop off my car. Luckily, Jamin didnt go into work until 2 this afternoon so she came to my rescue this morning and we went to PJs for coffee and a walk around the park, it was a beautiful day for that. So around 11:30 or so I got dropped off at the apt and I got to work cleaning and cleaning and cleaning. I scrubbed down my room, the bathroom, and the kitchen. I also did about 6 loads of laundry. In between all of this, I signed my tax papers and wrote my $12 check to the state of louisiana. Now, I just have to sit back and wait for my 1200 to come back to me, how exciting does that sound. I found out why my tire has been going flat constantly for the past 6 months, apparently there was a nail it, also I have a broken axel, my sideview mirror motor has worn out, and a few other things, but the highlight is that the check engine light came on because it thought my car had a fuel leak, but it does not, the gas cap has become worn out and fumes were leaking but not gas, so that means it is easily fixed with a new gas cap. woo. oh and the brakes do not need to replaced yet, he said give it another 6 or 7 months, and as much as I would rather just have it done now and over with, it will allow me to save some money and get my winshield replaced first., its like I am going to have a brand new car with 80,000 miles on it...haha. The best part is most of the work is going to be covered by my warranty so instead of costing 900 its gonna cost closer to 400, which makes me happy. Now, I might not have a car until late thursday or even friday morning, but I will live I suppose, anyone want to drive me around? no takers? damn

so after a few weeks away, I have finally returned. First of all, congrats to me for being Harrah's Hotel Employee of the Month. For all my hard work, I get a $50 gift card to Target, woo. Also, I am now going to work as our hotels VIP coordinator on the days that the real VIP is off, so that will be exciting, its like a fake promotion with the same pay.

My grandparents have been staying at the hotel the past couple of nights, we went to nola for dinner as well as tommy's, both were really good. we alos went on a driving tour of New Orleans and we went all over the freaking place today, it wore me out. That is about all, if you would like to know more, ask lydia for she will be my new personal assistant/publicist. congrats on the promotion from roommate lyd

12:14 pm - interesting....
Regardless of where you stand on the issue of the U.S. involvement in Iraq, here's a sobering statistic:

There has been a monthly average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theatre of operations during the last 22 months, and a total of 2,112 deaths. That gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.

The firearm death rate in Washington D.C. is 80.6 per 100,000 persons for the same period. That means that you are about 25% more likely to be shot and killed in the U.S. Capital than you are in Iraq.

Conclusion: The U.S. should pull out of Washington.

HAHAHA

12:27 pm - Its Time!
I am going to start my monthly update by saying that I am now obsessed with Otis Redding thanks to Teresa and for that she will in fact die.

So this past week has been a crazy crazy ride. I wake up early last wednesday so I can go to the airport to pick up some of my friends friends that I had never met. I get a phone call about 5 minutes later from Christina telling me to go back to sleep because her friends flight was still sitting on the runway at JFK when it was supposed to be in New Orleans in like 15 minutes, she also tells me that her flight from LGA has been cancelled and that she has rented a car and was on her way down to Mardi Gras becuase she couldn't get a flight to new orleans until Sunday, she was riding in the parade on Friday was well and that is why such drastic measures were taken.  well her friends were on one of those flights you may have heard about on JetBlue that sat on the runway for 7 hours before being cancelled. so he didn't make it. so late wednesday night, Teresa made her way from Denver at like 11:30 and after waiting on hour for luggage, we left the airport at 12:30.

Thursday T and I ran all over New Orleans doing errands and getting stuff for Saturday, our all day outing for Endymion. We went to Sams, Save-A-Center, Randazzo's, Party City, Michaels, R&O's, and a few other places. We then got home, made Jello shots, went through boxes and boxes of beads and then headed out to Kenner to load our float for the parade on Friday. We met up there with Christina and the New Yorkers who had made it into town around noon. We loaded the float and waited around for James to get into town from Michigan so we could rush downtown to see Muses. Well, we ended up getting some drinks, Popeyes, and stopping by a walgreens on vets before saying screw you james and going to see the parade. At the parade we met Drew Berrymore and Jimmy Fallon as they were standing right next to us, exciting stuff. After the parade and meeting James at Harrah's, since we made him take a cab, it was off to LaPlace as we were all going to spend the night at Jason's (our float leader) house . we hung out and chatted for awhile then all went to bed. And at the LaPlace exit from I-10 I even got stopped at a DUI check point. I had had a few drinks, so I was a little nervous, the police officer told me...welcome to the checkpoint and asked if I had been drinking tonight, I quickly told him no and he told me to have a good evening, it was a very strage moment.

Friday we got up and got ready for parade day, after a long drive in from LaPlace, we stopped by my house to unload some stuff then it was off to Mulates for a pre-parade luncheon. Well after we ate, Chris and I decided it was boring and since the open bar hadnt started yet, we took off to walk around the quarter. I was asked if I was riding in a parade today about 40 times since i was in costume, that was annoying. We went to a few tourist shops, walked around, ran into Taylor Hicks and then made our way back to the open bar. After awhile, it was time to get on the float. We kept drinking and drinking and talking and having fun. We rode the floats from Juila and Tchoupitoulas to the beginning of the parade route, having to empty the buckets (the bathroom) once we got there, thats what we get for being the largest float ever for the krewe. The parade started and I was feeling good, I can remember seeing some people and I even had some people pissed at me because I didnt see/hear them, and all I can say I was drunk, it was loud, and we were moving fast. But anyways, I had beads thrown at me as well as heard a few fuck yous, had my beer stolen a few times and at some point even handed my camera to some guy in the crowd and asked him to take my picture...oops. All in all, it was the most fun I have ever had, and will be sure to do it again.

Saturday we got up early and went out to the route with 2 coolers, 6 chairs, and a lot of food to see iris, tucks and endymion. It was a lot of fun. Bridget came and met up with us as did Ryan and Aimee and Lauren. We just sat there all day, only moving to pee and go to Superior Grill for drinks once. We had a lot of Jello shots as well. In fact towards the end of the parade, we didnt want to carry stuff back so we were handing out jello shots and beer and food and coke like candy, we even got asked by one guy if we were in a cult. The highlight of the evening was when I looked back and some random guy eating our doritos and we asked him were he got them, he told us on the chair and we told him they were ours and he tried to give them back, but I told him he could  keep them if I could get a picture of him eatting them, so I did. He later admitted he picked them off of the ground....gross.

Sunday I worked and after a long day, dealng with people having sex in the bathroom, lines for our bathroom, dogs running wild and people busting their face, I met up with everyone at BBC. Well, they were all pretty drunk, mainly James and T though and the two of them were making out with anything that moved, it was kinda funny at first then really annoying. After a little drama, I decided it was time for everyone to go home, so we took James and Teresa home and the rest of us went to IHOP on the wank only to find out that there was a 45 minute wait and seeing it was midnight, we didnt want to wait, so we went to shoney's breakfast buffett and it was very good, hit the spot.

Monday I worked and Tuesday was kinda boring just laid around  and watched tv all day, took chris the airport after lunch  (her friends all  left earlier).

Anywoo, there is my monthly update, I hope everyone had a great Mardi Gras weekend, i know I did.

oh videos are on youtube at:  http://www.youtube.com/user/mjwsluh
pics on webshots at:   http://community.webshots.com/user/mjwiethop

EDIT: I completely forgot to add that during our parade, someone on our float fell off and the float kept going and he chased after it, it was kind of funny. Oh and pics will be posted on myspace/facebook as well when I get around to it.

so the last couple of days have been very productive and I have gotten really drunk, so its all been good. 8 days from now, the parade rolls and that is exciting.

last night was the perfect example of why I love so many of the people I work with minus some managers. a group of us went to the halfmoon and we just sat around and drank and talked and played some pool. I ended up sitting there for like 6 hours and had no idea it had been that long. oh well, another sucessful night in my life.

I woke up today and went on a run, like I do most mornings, but todays was extra good, I think it was the beautiful weather outside. I wish I had today off too, but oh well, its gotta end sometime. All I know is that if I make it through the busy busy day today, the rest of the weekend, is going to be pretty easy.

there is a marching band practicing outside my window and it is kind of obnoxious, but it is making me excited for mardi gras. I had some really good days at work last week and I hope it continues, I am starting to like it a little better again, so we shall see what happens.

04:54 pm
It seems that I am now being forced into updating my journal. SO here it goes....

The reason my posts are so few and far between is because I live a pretty boring life, boring in the fact that I do the same thing all the time, not in that I don't do anything. I mean I work thursday-monday, do errands on tuesday and clean/relax on wednesday, with a lot of drinking in between, I mean drinking just comes with working with the public because people suck and I think casino people are like 10 times worse than the general public, they want everything and they want it for free, bastards. I dont care that you waste 1000s of dollars a day at our casino, that is your choice, nobody is stealing it from you. Other than that, pretty normal life, crazy guests, and a few crazy nights.

Everything is starting to come together for the parade. All the throws have been bought, now if anyone has any beads or anything else they would like to donate to me, please let me know, I am still accepting donations. I still need to find out what float/where I am in the parade, but as soon as i know, I will post it on here...haha, it will probably be the next post I make. Anyways, its Krewe of Morpheus it rolls uptown after d'etat on friday the 16th, the first big day of parades.

Today, I went to a throw store, and to a responsible gaming class that Harrahs requires all employees to go to. Its so rediculous because all you do is sit in a class room in the basement of the casino and watch a stupid videa that tells you about carding people under 30, keeping kids away from tables/machines, and reporting people that you may think are addicted. So retarded. My favorite line though is......i am sure you get asked this all the time because you have such a young face, but can i please see your ID or the part where they explain to us how to recognize young people based on a young looking face or trendy clothing. Jesus! I also cleaned the bathroom, it took forever, but i got it done, it was really gross so it looks like 10,000 times better now. We need to clean that i little more often than we do..oops

anyways, until next month....stay classy san diego, i mean new orleans, i mean, I don't even know.
